27.08.2021. Wood is the only building material that ensures it comes from responsibly managed sources, in this case forests.

This is made possible by a complex system of independent audits and verifications to ensure the correct application of demanding third-party certification criteria. To date, 100% of INTERHOLCO’s own production from its forest concession in the North of Congo and 88% of INTERHOLCO’s wood sourced from external suppliers is verified to adhere to FSC principles and criteria, the most trusted forest management certification currently available.

While forestry is practiced in keeping with regulations and guidelines that consider environmental, economic and social values for a particular country, voluntary forest certification demonstrates the effectiveness of a company’s practices by having them independently assessed against a consistent set of sustainability standards.

In the Republic of Congo, where INTERHOLCO’s production site is based, scientists have observed some of the lowest deforestation rates than in any other tropical forest, around 0.052% per year.

Moreover, in 2020, according to WRI’s satellite monitoring tool, Global Forest Watch,  0% deforestation occurred in the North of the Republic of Congo, where INTERHOLCO’s production site is based.

In this way, independent, credible sources verify that SUSTAINABLE HARDWOOD MADE IN AFRICA is a sustainable, bio-based, future-proof and climate-friendly material.
