11.01.2017. The Advisory Board of global hardwood specialist Danzer has named Ulrich Grauert as new Chief Executive Officer of Interholco. Ulrich Grauert, 51 has taken up his new functions succeeding Olof von Gagern, who retired from the company after 21 years of service.
The Board announcement marks the decision to make Danzer and Interholco operate as two separate brands. Over the years, Danzer has increasingly developed innovative wood products sourced from temperate forests, investing in research and technology efficiency. Interholco will now be empowered to strengthen its position as one of the world’s leading producers of high-quality wood from Africa.
Interholco as global producer of African quality wood
Since joining Interholco in 1993, Africa-born Ulrich Grauert has built a track record of leadership. 'The focus on Interholco’s business allows us to even better concentrate on the requirements of forest management and timber production in Africa', says Ulrich Grauert. 'With this change we shall better target our industrial investments and trading activities, and continue to attune our business to the unique social, environmental and economic needs of the Congo basin. We want to offer and deliver to our customers the unique properties of African wood in a large variety of products and services.'
Interholco has been active in Africa since 1962 and is the parent company of IFO (Industrie Forestière d'Ouesso) and LCC (Logistique Congo Cameroun), respectively based in the Republic of Congo and Cameroon. IFO alone manages the largest contiguous forest concession for timber in the tropics (1.16 million hectares) that is certified by the Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC® C022952).
