09.10.2017. Sustainable hardwood specialist Interholco presents its first Sustainability Report: the data collected and analyzed cover the years 2014 to 2016.
The report is being released on the same day as the Forest Stewardship Council’s (FSC®) General Assembly 2017 starts in Vancouver, Canada.
Interholco presents its first stand-alone Sustainability Report simultaneously in Baar, Switzerland and in Vancouver, Canada, where the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) General Assembly 2017 has just been kicked off. Interholco is an active participant at this General Assembly.
Relevance of FSC Certification
'We specifically chose this date for the publication of our Sustainability Report', says Interholco CEO Ulrich Grauert, 'because FSC, the Forest Stewardship Council, is a well known and recognized certification system in the wood industry. Representatives of the social, environmental and economic sectors gather regularly at the General Assembly to set and review sustainability and social standards. Interholco is content to be part of FSC’s General Assembly, thus helping to shape standards and guidelines.'
Data of the Past Three Years
With its first Sustainability Report titled 'Enabling Landscapes', Interholco wants to publicly present the data gathered over the course of the past three years in a coherent and cohesive manner thereby illustrating values of the company. 'To us, it is important to provide insight into our economic as well as sustainable actions', says Ulrich Grauert. 'We want to demonstrate that sustainability and sustainable actions affect many different fields. From the forest to the world: our value chain in the report illustrates that the proper handling of resources, the environment and people has local as well as global impacts. This is what our report Enabling landscapes emphasizes. Working with wood made in Africa means to support social and environmental landscapes, protect the forest and foster economic prosperity.'
