06.06.2025. Your timber choices shape more than supply chains. This World Environment Day, discover why sourcing FSC- or PEFC-certified hardwood from the Congo Basin is more than a materials decision—it’s a climate action that keeps rain falling, crops growing, and millions thriving.
Ever wonder where your rain really comes from?
If you're sourcing our FSC- or PEFC-certified hardwood from Central Africa, you're already part of a deeper story—one that connects forests, clouds, and crops on entirely different continents.
The Congo Basin—Earth’s second-largest tropical forest—isn’t just a carbon storehouse. It's a climate machine:
Rainmaker: Each tree acts as a micro-pump, capturing ocean moisture inland, generating regional rainfall and fuelling rains as far as the Ethiopian highlands, the Nile’s source and the Sahel. This invisible moisture, released into the atmosphere via evapotranspiration, feeds cloud systems and drives rainfall across Africa and beyond.
Natural AC: As these forests transpire, they also cool the surrounding air—an effect comparable in impact to shading a city from heatwaves.
But deforestation in the Congo could shrink rainfall by up to 10% by 2100, devastating water cycles that sustain food systems (goodbye, stable harvests) far beyond its borders.
That’s why our hardwood – and your supply chain – matter!

By supporting our responsible forestry, you’re helping to:
- Preserve the forest’s ability to generate rain.
- Protect regional and global food systems.
Each m3 of wood products from our responsibly managed concession helps keep this system running:
→ Carbon is stored in our products, restored in the forest via natural regeneration.
→ Clouds stay in the sky.
→ Rain keeps falling where it’s needed most.
Your choices influence more than the market—they shape food security and livelihoods for millions of people.
Choose wisely!
